mod. 006 – The champions’ glasses
Developed and tested to offer the wearer excellent ergonomics, perfect visibility and a constant and controlled flow of air, the frame of the 006 is made from Grilamid, a material that is resistant even in the case of knocks and falls. This model is particularly appreciated by competitive cycling champions. The champions’ lenses are made from mirror-finish polycarbonate with a water-repellent treatment. The model is also available with polarized, mirror and photochromatic lenses, ideal for outdoor sports and when often passing from an area of shadow to strong sun. The Salice 006 is available in various colour variants, including fluo fuchsia, black, white, yellow and blue. There is of course the Italy version, present for every Salice model with the Italian flag on the frame, in the white version and in the black version with green lenses. All the 006 have spare transparent lenses.
The retail price is from about 76,80 euro.
Many cycling professionals have chosen to wear this model in this year’s international cycling races.
Among them Igor ANTON, a professional since 2004 with Euskaltel-Euskadi, the Basque team of which he is still a team member. In 2010 he won two stages at Vuelta a España wearing the red jersey for six days; Peter VELITS of the Highroad Team who won the Under-23 Road Race at the 2007 Road World Championships and the 17th stage of the Vuelta a España last year, beating champions such as Denis Men\'šov and Fabian Cancellara in the time trial that boosted him into third place in the overall classifications. In the second last stage – ensuring himself third place on the official podium at the end of the Madrid tour – he became the first Slovakian to reach the final podium of a grand cycling tour; also in the same team is his brother Martin VELTIS, who was six times world champion: three times road race champion and three times time trial champion. Last season he began in 8th place at the new Tour of Oman. In July he triumphed again in the national championship. In September he participated in the Vuelta a España, riding together with his brother, and won the first stage, a team time-trial, crossing the finishing line in the one of the top positions.
Also wearing Salice are Tiago MACHADO, 25 year old Portuguese, who made an impressive debut last year with the Team founded by Lance Armstrong, Radio Shack, and three professionals, Jesus Lopez HERRADA, born in 1990, Luis PASAMONTES and Sanz ENRIKE of the Movistar team, the most important sponsor in the history of cycling who put together a team of 25 athletes plus a satellite formation of 15 athletes in South America for the American competitions.
Finally, the Cofidis Team, one of the most promising French teams of these last years, has been invited to participate in the 2011 Tour de France as well as the Paris-Nice race with Luis Angel Matè MARDONES, Nicolas EDET, Julien FARES, and Salice!
006 will also accompany a couple of champions from the Astana Team, namely Roman KIREYEV and Alexandr DYACHENKO, who with Alberto Contador dominated last year’s Tour De France.
However, this is not everyone because the excellent ergonomics and technology of the Salice eyewear can be seen this year on the heads of many champions, as well as cycling amateurs.
